Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits to ensure accurate billing.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Prepare and submit clean claims to various payers, including commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare.
- Monitor claims status, follow up on unpaid or rejected claims, and appeal denials as necessary.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve discrepancies to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Maintain and update patient records and billing logs with precision.
- Collaborate with the billing team to identify trends and improve revenue cycle efficiency.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or certificate in Medical Billing, Coding, or Health Information Management preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing is required.
- Certification (CPC, COC, RHIT, or CCS) is a strong plus.
- Strong working knowledge of medical billing regulations (HIPAA, Stark Law).
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic, Cerner, or Practice Fusion).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
