Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records and charges to ensure accuracy before claim submission.
- Submit claims to insurance clearinghouses (commercial and government payers) electronically.
- Follow up on denied or underpaid claims and manage the appeals process.
- Respond to patient billing inquiries and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Reconcile daily bank deposits and maintain accurate billing logs.
- Stay abreast of changing healthcare regulations, coding updates, and payer requirements.
- Collaborate with the billing team to identify trends and improve process efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Health Administration preferred.
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or RHIT certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing or medical office administration.
- Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner) and Practice Management software.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities.
