Responsibilities
- Analyze medical records and patient charts to ensure accurate coding and documentation before billing.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and submit claims to clearinghouses electronically.
- Perform daily follow-up on claims status to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Handle claim denials and appeals process effectively to maximize revenue.
- Generate and review daily, weekly, and monthly reports regarding accounts receivable and collections.
- Communicate with patients and insurance providers to resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal company policies.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Certification preferred (CPC, CPC-H, RHIT, or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Athenahealth, or Cerner preferred).
- Excellent analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for customer service interactions.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
