Responsibilities
- Review and accurately submit medical claims to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial).
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to rendering services.
- Analyze denied or rejected claims and initiate appeals to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and billing documentation.
- Reconcile accounts daily and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- CPC or CPT certification is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proficient in EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth) and medical billing software.
- Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and privacy compliance standards.
