Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect necessary co-pays and deductibles.
- Submit and follow up on medical claims (HCPCS, ICD-10) with various insurance carriers.
- Manage accounts receivable, resolve billing discrepancies, and handle denial management.
- Maintain accurate patient records and billing logs in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate with patients and insurance providers regarding claim status and payment plans.
- Train junior staff on billing procedures and software usage.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration or equivalent preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or claims processing.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth experience is a plus).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
