In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of medical claims. We are looking for a proactive professional who can navigate complex insurance requirements and ensure our financial health while maintaining the highest level of patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility to prevent claim denials before submission.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Submit claims to various payers (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) using our proprietary billing software.
- Track claim status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to secure reimbursement.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment plans.
- Reconcile daily banking transactions and maintain detailed billing logs.
- Assist in month-end close procedures and financial reporting.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Health Information Technology is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or a related healthcare finance role.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding standards.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Practice Management Systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail to detect errors and discrepancies.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex billing concepts to patients.
