Responsibilities
- Dispense Medications: Prepare and package prescription medications accurately, ensuring proper labeling and dosage instructions are provided.
- Verify Prescriptions: Review and verify physician orders for completeness, accuracy, and potential drug interactions before dispensing.
- Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, manage incoming shipments, and ensure proper storage of both prescription and over-the-counter medications.
- Customer Service: Assist patients with medication inquiries, process insurance claims, and provide a friendly, professional service experience.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and documentation of all dispensed medications and transactions.
- Assist Pharmacists: Support the pharmacy team by performing routine tasks and ensuring the pharmacy operates efficiently during peak hours.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) or ExCPT (National Healthcareer Association) certification required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is preferred.
- Licensure: Valid state pharmacy technician license issued by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent mathematical skills, and proficiency with computer systems.
- Attributes: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adhere to strict safety protocols, and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
