Responsibilities
- Accurately verify patient insurance eligibility and primary coverage before services are rendered.
- Submit and track medical claims to insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) in a timely manner.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements and follow up on denied or unpaid claims.
- Manage the appeals process for denied claims and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Maintain and update patient demographic and financial records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Ensure all billing practices comply with HIPAA and state/federal healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration or Medical Billing preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Proficient knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Experience with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth) is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail to minimize errors and maximize collections.
