Responsibilities
- Process and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient eligibility, benefits, and coverage details before billing
- Manage accounts receivable through follow-up on unpaid claims and denials
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and billing compliance standards
- Utilize medical billing software (Epic, Cerner, or similar) for claim submission
- Resolve billing discrepancies through effective communication with providers and payers
- Generate regular reports on billing performance and key metrics
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement methodologies
- Exceptional attention to detail with numerical accuracy
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and billing software
