Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits to ensure accurate billing.
- Submit clean claims to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial) electronically.
- Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or rejected claims to resolve denials efficiently.
- Reconcile patient accounts and resolve billing inquiries with a high level of customer service.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines and compliance regulations.
- Collaborate with the billing team to identify trends and improve revenue cycle performance.
- Manage month-end close processes and financial reporting as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing, Coding, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification (CPC, COC, or CPC-H) is a strong plus but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and billing software (e.g., AthenaHealth, EPIC, or NextGen).
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
