Responsibilities
- Review patient medical records to ensure accuracy before billing processes.
- Submit medical claims to insurance companies (CMS-1500 forms) and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Research and resolve claim denials and rejections to maximize revenue.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date patient billing records and databases.
- Communicate with patients regarding their account status and payment options.
- Assist in the month-end closing process and financial reporting.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration is a plus.
- No prior medical billing experience required; on-the-job training provided.
- Basic computer proficiency and typing skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot errors in data entry.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance is preferred.
