Responsibilities
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare and submit clean medical claims to insurance payers using the CMS-1500 form.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve billing denials effectively.
- Manage patient accounts receivable and track outstanding balances.
- Communicate with patients and insurance carriers regarding billing inquiries and status updates.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records and filing systems.
- Assist in the reconciliation of accounts and month-end reporting.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Basic computer proficiency and typing skills (10-key experience is a plus).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot errors in data entry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new software and medical billing procedures (training provided).
- Reliable internet connection and computer access for remote training modules.
