Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Submit clean claims to insurance companies and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on denied or unpaid claims
- Conduct insurance verification and pre-authorization for patients
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and healthcare billing regulations
- Generate monthly reports on billing performance and denial rates
- Collaborate with clinical staff to resolve billing discrepancies
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Expert knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding systems
- Proficiency with medical billing software (e.g., Epic, eClinicalWorks)
- Strong understanding of insurance claim processes and reimbursement
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid Maryland driver's license (for occasional client visits)
