Responsibilities
- Accurately review medical records and patient charts to ensure proper coding and billing compliance.
- Submit clean claims to various insurance payers (Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Aetna, Medicare, etc.) electronically.
- Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage the entire revenue cycle, from patient registration to final payment collection.
- Handle patient billing inquiries professionally and resolve any billing discrepancies.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA privacy regulations and internal company policies.
- Utilize practice management software to generate reports and track key performance indicators.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing, Coding, or Health Administration is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, medical coding, or a related administrative role.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Practice Management software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance representatives.
- Ability to work independently while adhering to strict deadlines.
