Responsibilities
- Review and code medical records using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines to ensure compliance and accurate billing.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and submit claims to payers in a timely manner.
- Manage the revenue cycle process, including posting payments, adjustments, and patient collections.
- Investigate and resolve complex claims denials and appeals to recover lost revenue.
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in practice management software.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CEM (Certified Electronic Medical Intermediary) is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of HIPAA privacy laws and healthcare compliance regulations.
- Proficiency in EHR systems such as Epic, AthenaHealth, or NextGen.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail to detect errors before claims are submitted.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a high-volume setting.
