Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Submit and follow up on insurance claims to ensure timely reimbursement
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and resolve billing discrepancies
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and billing standards
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment plans
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems for documentation
- Analyze aging reports and identify opportunities for revenue cycle improvement
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in medical coding systems and billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and payer requirements
- Excellent attention to detail with high accuracy in data entry
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality
