Job Summary:
The Medical Biller is responsible for the financial processing of patient accounts, including posting charges, verifying insurance eligibility, and submitting claims to payers. You will work closely with patients and insurance providers to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure optimal revenue cycle management.
Responsibilities
- Review medical records and assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes to ensure accurate billing.
- Submit clean claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance carriers electronically.
- Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to secure reimbursement.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and collect necessary co-pays and deductibles.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve billing disputes professionally.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient financial records in the EHR system.
- Participate in monthly billing audits to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or RHIA/RHIT is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
