Responsibilities
- Accurately verify and enter patient demographic and insurance information into the billing system.
- Process medical claims (HCPCS, CPT, ICD-10) and submit to insurance payers electronically and via paper.
- Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid claims, and resolve denials to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Generate and send patient invoices and explain billing statements clearly.
- Collaborate with patients and healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies and questions.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal company policies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Health Information Management is preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) or Professional Biller (AAPC) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, specifically EPIC or NextGen.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
