Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and submit medical claims to commercial and government insurance payers.
- Review denied and rejected claims to identify root causes and resubmit for payment.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to rendering services.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure full compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process patient payments and manage account reconciliation.
- Communicate effectively with patients and insurance carriers regarding billing inquiries.
- Collaborate with the coding and clinical teams to ensure accurate documentation.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Familiarity with claims clearinghouses (e.g., Change Healthcare, RelayHealth).
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Certification such as CPC, CBCS, or RHIT is a plus but not required.
