Responsibilities
- Verify patient demographics and insurance information to ensure accuracy before claim submission.
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Submit and follow up on claims with insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial).
- Review and resolve denied or rejected claims to maximize revenue cycle performance.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
- Maintain organized and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with the coding and collections teams to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or COC (Certified Outpatient Coder) certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth.
- Strong working knowledge of government and private payer regulations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and billing software.
