Responsibilities
- Accurate Claims Processing: Review and code medical records using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines to ensure precise billing.
- Revenue Cycle Management: Manage the complete revenue cycle from patient registration to final payment, minimizing denials and maximizing collections.
- Payer Communication: Communicate effectively with insurance payers and patients to resolve billing discrepancies and answer inquiries promptly.
- Compliance & Auditing: Conduct regular audits of billing files to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal quality standards.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize advanced medical billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) to track claim status and generate financial reports.
- Denial Management: Analyze denied claims to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing, or related field preferred.
- Certification: CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) certification is highly valued.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in medical billing or coding within a hospital or multi-specialty practice.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and medical billing software.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of HCPCS, CPT, ICD-10-CM, and Medicare/Medicaid billing guidelines.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, analytical problem-solving abilities, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
