Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance information and eligibility to prevent claim denials.
- Accurately process medical claims using billing software (Medisoft, AdvancedMD, or Epic).
- Submit claims electronically to insurance carriers (Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealth, Aetna) and follow up on status.
- Monitor accounts receivable and handle denials/appeals to maximize revenue collection.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve billing discrepancies promptly.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations and company policies.
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical patient files for audit readiness.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Proficiency in CPT and ICD-10 coding guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of Blue Cross Blue Shield and other major payer requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- High School Diploma or GED required; CPC or CBCS certification is a plus.
