The Role
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical coding standards and possess a keen eye for detail to prevent revenue leakage.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographics and insurance information to ensure billing accuracy.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare payers electronically.
- Analyze denied and rejected claims to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable and manage collections.
- Collaborate with billing supervisors and healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Update patient records and maintain accurate documentation in the EHR system.
- Stay current with changes in healthcare regulations and coding updates.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- In-depth knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines and compliance.
- Proficiency with medical billing software (e.g., Athenahealth, Epic, Cerner) and EHR systems.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for resolving complex billing issues.
