Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough health assessments, including physical examinations and medical history reviews, to determine patient needs.
- Medication Management: Administer prescribed medications and treatments safely, adhering to strict hospital protocols and double-checking all orders.
- Care Planning: Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Vital Monitoring: Continuously monitor patient vital signs and clinical status, promptly reporting any significant changes or deteriorations.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on disease processes, medication side effects, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with physicians and nursing staff to ensure seamless care coordination.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and technical nursing skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and manage multiple priorities.
