Responsibilities
- Verify Patient Information: Accurately review and verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility to prevent claim rejections.
- Submit Claims: Complete and submit medical claims (CMS-1500) to various insurance carriers electronically and via paper.
- Denial Management: Research denied or rejected claims, identify root causes, and resubmit appeals to maximize revenue.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized electronic medical records (EMR) and billing logs.
- Patient Communication: Communicate effectively with patients regarding their account balances and insurance coverage.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and the ability to spot discrepancies in data.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook) and typing speed of 40+ WPM.
- Medical Knowledge: Basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and ICD-10 coding concepts.
- Work Ethic: Self-motivated individual capable of working independently and meeting tight deadlines.
- Availability: Ability to work full-time hours (40 hours/week) during business days.
