About the Role
As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health of our medical practice. You will be responsible for managing the revenue cycle, ensuring claims are processed correctly, and maintaining positive relationships with patients and insurance providers.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect necessary demographic information.
- Accurately code medical procedures using CPT and ICD-10 guidelines.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance carriers (CMS-1500, UB-04).
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
- Resolve billing discrepancies and answer patient inquiries regarding statements.
- Manage the revenue cycle from initial registration to final payment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Coding preferred.
- CPC, CPT, or RHIT certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Proficient in medical billing software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic, or similar).
- Strong understanding of healthcare compliance and HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
