Responsibilities
- Claims Submission: Accurately complete and submit CMS-1500 claims to insurance payers and government programs.
- Denial Management: Analyze denied and rejected claims, identify root causes, and successfully appeal decisions to recover revenue.
- Patient Invoicing: Generate and send invoices to patients, explain insurance statements, and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Account Reconciliation: Monitor accounts receivable, post payments, and reconcile daily batch transactions.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all billing practices comply with HIPAA and company policies.
- Software Management: Utilize advanced EHR and billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth) to manage patient accounts efficiently.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in medical billing and coding.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certifications: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) is a strong plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in medical terminology and knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
