Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming first impression.
- Manage the front desk operations, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing patient check-in/check-out procedures.
- Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays accurately using electronic payment systems.
- Maintain and update patient medical records and charts in the EMR/EHR system.
- Coordinate with medical staff and nurses to ensure smooth daily operations and patient flow.
- Handle incoming inquiries regarding services, hours, and insurance coverage with patience and accuracy.
- Sort and distribute mail, faxes, and deliveries to appropriate departments.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Medical Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar front-desk role.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, or similar) is highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and electronic scheduling software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume medical environment.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes.
