Responsibilities
- Greet and Welcome Patients: Provide a warm, professional greeting to all patients and visitors, ensuring a positive first impression of our practice.
- Manage Front Desk Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the front desk, including answering phones, managing incoming and outgoing mail, and filing.
- Schedule Appointments: Utilize our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to book patient appointments, manage cancellations, and send reminder calls.
- Verify Insurance and Eligibility: Check patient insurance information, verify coverage, and process paperwork accurately to minimize billing errors.
- Patient Intake: Collect necessary patient demographic information, health history, and update medical records as required.
- Handle Billing Inquiries: Assist patients with questions regarding invoices, co-pays, and outstanding balances in a polite and helpful manner.
- Maintain a Clean Environment: Ensure the reception area is organized, clean, and welcoming for patients at all times.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma: Minimum requirement; a GED is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in a customer service role within the healthcare industry is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on empathy and clarity.
- Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Professionalism: Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance) and uphold professional standards.
- Availability: Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends or evenings if required.
