As a Triage Nurse, you will serve as the vital link between patients and the medical team, ensuring safety and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough telephone assessments to evaluate patient symptoms, history, and current health status.
- Utilize clinical protocols to determine the appropriate level of care and route patients to the correct medical resources.
- Document all triage assessments, recommendations, and patient interactions accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Provide clear, concise health education and medication guidance to patients and families.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and care coordinators to ensure continuity of care.
- Manage high-volume call queues while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor and high-quality patient service standards.
- Stay updated on clinical guidelines and best practices for triage nursing.
Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of California.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on active listening and empathy.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and make critical decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency with computer systems and ability to learn new Electronic Health Records (EMR) quickly.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
