Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination by assisting with attire and positioning, and by recording vital signs and medical histories.
- Perform basic clinical tasks, including administering injections, drawing blood (phlebotomy), and performing EKGs.
- Manage patient intake and registration, ensuring all demographic and insurance information is accurate and up-to-date.
- Assist providers during patient visits by handling instruments and materials, and by preparing treatment areas.
- Maintain medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and privacy standards.
- Coordinate follow-up appointments and communicate clearly with patients regarding test results and care instructions.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Previous experience in a clinical setting, with a strong understanding of medical terminology.
- Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient satisfaction.
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
