Responsibilities
- Perform routine patient assessments, including taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and manage medical inventory.
- Administer injections, draw blood (phlebotomy), and perform EKGs as required.
- Handle patient intake and discharge processes, including verifying insurance information.
- Maintain accurate and confidential electronic health records (EHR).
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA) or equivalent.
- Active BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS certifications (preferred).
- Previous experience in a clinical setting is required.
- Strong computer proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Valid New York State Medical Assistant license or eligibility to obtain one.
