Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Greet patients, verify demographics, and prepare them for examinations by taking vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, weight).
- Clinical Support: Assist providers during patient visits, including rooming patients, documenting medical histories, and preparing examination rooms.
- Procedures: Perform basic clinical duties such as blood draws (phlebotomy), EKGs, and administering injections as directed by providers.
- Administrative Tasks: Manage front desk duties including scheduling appointments, answering phones, and updating electronic health records (EHR) accurately.
- Lab Work: Collect and process laboratory specimens, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
- Communication: Educate patients on medications, treatments, and follow-up care instructions.
- Inventory: Monitor and restock medical supplies and examination room equipment.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) is preferred.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical or medical office setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKG, and electronic health records systems (Epic, Athenahealth, etc.).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Flexibility: Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the practice schedule.
- Professionalism: Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
