Responsibilities
- Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Submit clean claims to insurance payers and follow up on outstanding accounts
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits before service delivery
- Resolve billing discrepancies through effective payer and patient communication
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and billing standards
- Generate monthly reports on denial rates and collection performance
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure documentation accuracy
Qualifications
- 2+ years of medical billing experience in outpatient or ambulatory settings
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification preferred
- Proficiency in Epic, NextGen, or similar EHR billing systems
- Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines
- Exceptional attention to detail with error rate below 3%
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree in healthcare preferred
