Responsibilities
- Accurately code and bill medical insurance claims (CMS-1500 and electronic) using Epic and AthenaHealth systems.
- Review claims for accuracy and completeness to minimize denials and maximize reimbursement.
- Manage patient billing inquiries via phone and email, ensuring timely and empathetic resolution.
- Process payment posting and applied payments to patient accounts.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Collaborate with the billing team to resolve complex claim issues and appeals.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and billing software.
- Certification such as CPC, CMA, or RHIT is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, and commercial insurance regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
