Responsibilities
- Verify and code medical claims accurately using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Review and submit claims to insurance payers (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and resolving denials.
- Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries, statements, and payment arrangements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare compliance regulations and coding updates.
- Assist in the monthly financial close and reporting processes.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) efficiently to document billing activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or related field preferred.
- Certification (e.g., CPC, CCS, CEM) is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Proficient in medical billing software and electronic health records systems.
- Strong understanding of insurance verification and claims adjudication processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a part-time capacity.
