Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services.
- Accurately complete and submit medical claims using CMS-1500 forms to insurance payers.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and appeal denied insurance submissions.
- Manage patient billing inquiries, provide explanations of benefits, and post payments.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal billing policies.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to resolve coding or documentation issues.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date patient records and billing logs.
Qualifications
- CPC or CBCS certification preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth).
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for patient interactions.
