Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Accurately prepare and submit medical claims to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) within prescribed timeframes.
- Patient Billing: Verify patient insurance eligibility and communicate billing requirements to patients to ensure timely payments.
- Accounts Receivable: Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims.
- Denial Management: Analyze denied claims to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future denials.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient financial records and billing logs in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management.
- Certification: CPC, CPC-A, or COC certification is preferred but not required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with medical billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors and ensure data accuracy.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance representatives.
