Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival and check them in efficiently using the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Manage patient intake, verify insurance coverage, and collect co-pays or payments accurately.
- Schedule and confirm appointments via phone and online platforms while minimizing wait times.
- Answer incoming calls professionally, routing messages to the appropriate medical staff.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room.
- Assist with clerical duties such as filing medical records, updating patient demographics, and processing referrals.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure seamless patient transitions between registration and care.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical reception, front desk, or customer service.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and HIPAA compliance regulations.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to work occasional weekends or evenings.
