Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up specialized equipment according to surgical protocols
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies with precision
  • Maintain sterile fields throughout operations and enforce aseptic techniques to prevent infections
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure completeness
  • Transport patients to and from surgical suites while monitoring vital signs and comfort
  • Document all perioperative activities using electronic health record systems
  • Manage biohazard waste disposal and equipment sterilization processes

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent military training
