Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by sterilizing equipment and arranging necessary instruments and supplies.
- Assist surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists during operations by passing instruments and other sterile supplies.
- Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure nothing is left in the surgical wound.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room while ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Monitor and adjust equipment to ensure proper functioning during surgical procedures.
- Stock and inventory supplies to prevent shortages during critical moments.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work effectively as part of a high-functioning surgical team.
- Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina for long periods of standing.
- High school diploma or GED required.
