Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, arranging instruments, and verifying sterility protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and managing sterile fields
- Monitor patient vital signs and document surgical events accurately
- Prepare and transport specimens for laboratory analysis
- Maintain inventory of surgical supplies and restock between cases
- Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and AORN standards for infection control
- Collaborate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless case turnover
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or graduate of accredited program
- Minimum 1 year OR experience with specialty rotation documentation
- BLS/CPR certification (current)
- Proficiency in sterile processing and instrument recognition
- Ability to stand 8+ hours with frequent bending/reaching
- Strong attention to detail in high-pressure environments
- Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Pass background check and drug screening
