Responsibilities
- Assist Surgeons: Provide comprehensive assistance to surgeons during procedures, anticipating their needs and ensuring all instruments are ready.
- Prep Operating Rooms: Set up and sterilize operating rooms, medical equipment, and supplies prior to surgeries to ensure a safe environment.
- Patient Preparation: Escort patients to the operating suite, verify identity, and assist with draping and positioning to optimize surgical access.
- Instrument Management: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to maintain strict inventory and safety standards.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label and transport surgical specimens to the pathology department for analysis.
- Post-Op Care: Assist in the transfer of patients to the recovery room and ensure the operating room is thoroughly cleaned and restocked.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential required.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Licensure: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications are mandatory.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical anatomy, and sterile processing protocols.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
