Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician will assist the Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing prescription medications. You will ensure accuracy in every step of the process, from receiving prescriptions to final packaging.
Responsibilities
- Dispensing: Prepare and package prescription medications accurately and efficiently under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, place orders for pharmaceutical supplies, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients and healthcare professionals to answer questions regarding prescriptions and drug interactions.
- Insurance Processing: Verify insurance coverage and process claims to minimize out-of-pocket costs for patients.
- Compounding: Assist in the preparation of sterile and non-sterile compounds as required by the pharmacy.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA and DEA guidelines.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) certification required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- License: Valid state pharmacy technician license.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and physicians.
