Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Accurately receive, verify, prepare, and dispense prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients and healthcare providers in a professional, empathetic, and efficient manner to resolve inquiries and provide medication counseling.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, place orders for pharmaceutical supplies, and manage expiration dates to ensure a well-stocked pharmacy.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA privacy standards, to ensure patient confidentiality and safety.
- Quality Control: Assist in the quality assurance process, including double-checking dispensing accuracy and maintaining accurate records.
- Specialized Duties: May include compounding medications, preparing IVs, or handling specialized prescription programs as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is preferred.
- Certification: Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- License: Valid State Pharmacy Technician license required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent mathematical skills, and proficiency with pharmacy management software.
- Attributes: Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate strong ethical judgment.
