Responsibilities
- Prepare Treatment Rooms: Set up operatories with the necessary instruments, materials, and equipment before patient appointments to ensure smooth workflow.
- Patient Care: Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, providing chair-side assistance and ensuring patient comfort.
- Diagnostics: Take and process dental X-rays (radiographs) and digital images as directed by the dentist.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to sterilization and disinfection protocols to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff.
- Record Management: Update and maintain accurate patient dental records, charting treatment progress and medical history.
- Administrative Support: Manage appointment scheduling, verify patient insurance information, and handle front desk reception duties when needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant program or equivalent training.
- Licensure: Current Alaska State Dental Assistant License and DANB certification (or eligible).
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience as a Dental Assistant preferred.
- Skills: Proficient in using dental software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix) and radiography equipment.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages.
