Responsibilities
- Prepare and Package Medications: Accurately measure, weigh, and mix pharmaceutical compounds; package and label prescriptions according to legal and safety regulations.
- Operate Dispensing Equipment: Utilize advanced pharmacy dispensing systems and automated machinery to process prescriptions efficiently.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and manage returns or recalls to ensure the pharmacy is always fully stocked.
- Customer Service: Greet patients, answer questions regarding medications, and provide counseling on proper usage and potential side effects.
- Quality Assurance: Verify prescriptions for completeness and accuracy, checking for drug interactions and contraindications.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines, state pharmacy laws, and company protocols.
- Administrative Tasks: Process insurance claims, manage patient profiles, and update electronic health records (EHR) with precision.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using pharmacy software and handling medical equipment; basic computer literacy.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to focus on details to ensure patient safety and medication accuracy.
- Licensure: Current state pharmacy technician license in Texas.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
