Responsibilities
- Medication Preparation: Accurately prepare and package prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, receive deliveries, and ensure the pharmacy is well-stocked and organized.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients to answer questions, provide medication information, and resolve inquiries professionally.
- Quality Control: Verify prescription accuracy, check for drug interactions, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Administrative Duties: Process insurance claims, update patient records, and manage the cash register.
- Compounding: Assist in the preparation of sterile and non-sterile compounded medications as required.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; pharmacy technician certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT) preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience as a pharmacy technician is a plus, but we are willing to train motivated candidates.
- Licensure: Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in Virginia.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to focus on accuracy when handling sensitive patient data and medications.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency with pharmacy management software and electronic health records.
