Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Prepare and package prescriptions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, verifying all patient information and dosage instructions.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and manage expiration dates to ensure the pharmacy is always well-stocked.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients to answer questions about medications, provide medication therapy management support, and process payments efficiently.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date electronic and paper records of prescriptions dispensed, controlled substances, and patient profiles.
- System Operation: Utilize pharmacy automation software and dispensing equipment to streamline the workflow and reduce errors.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations, state pharmacy laws, and company policies to ensure patient privacy and safety.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is preferred.
- Certification: Current PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) or ExCPT certification is required.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail or hospital setting is highly preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency with computer systems and pharmacy software.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical information clearly to patients.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
