Responsibilities
- Medication Preparation: accurately receive, verify, prepare, and package prescription medications according to strict legal and ethical standards.
- Prescription Processing: assist the pharmacist in reviewing prescriptions, checking for drug interactions, and ensuring patient information is complete and accurate.
- Inventory Management: monitor stock levels, manage ordering of pharmaceutical supplies, and maintain a clean, organized, and secure pharmacy environment.
- Customer Service: interact professionally with patients to answer questions regarding medications, insurance coverage, and refill requests.
- Compounding: assist in the compounding of sterile and non-sterile products as directed by the supervising pharmacist.
- Regulatory Compliance: adhere to all HIPAA regulations, state pharmacy board laws, and company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
Qualifications
- Certification: PTCB or ExCPT certification preferred; new graduates are encouraged to apply if they are actively working toward certification.
- Experience: Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to focus on details and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical information clearly to patients.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using pharmacy management software and computer systems.
- Reliability: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the pharmacy schedule.
